We need to verify sites added to WPCrawl for two purposes. First, we need to make sure you are an authorized owner of that site. Second, we need to make sure we got the site details right.

WPCrawl provides two options to verify your website. You can use our WordPress plugin for the verification, or you can use the FTP.

1. Verify using FTP

This method requires you to have FTP access to the root of your website.

  • Edit your site settings and select “FTP” as the verification method.
  • When you save your site settings site box will display a message like this:

“Create a text file named wpcrawl-zdSAXpxo.txt at the root of your site and click verify to complete verification.”

  • Connect to your site using FTP and create a new file with the provided name.
  • Click Verify button.

2. Verify using WPCrawl plugin

This method requires you to have admin rights on your WordPress panel.

  1. Download the WPCrawl plugin from Github.
  2. Log in to your WordPress admin panel.
  3. Go to your “Plugins – Add New” plugin page
  4. Click the “Upload Plugin” button and click “Install Now”
  5. Click “Activate Plugin” once the upload is complete
  6. Go to the “Settings – WpCrawl Feed Settings” page to get your feed key
  7. Copy your Page URL (feed key) to WpCrawl site settings and save it
  8. Click verify on the WpCrawl dashboard

Once you complete the verification steps your site will appear with a green border on the dashboard.

Feel free to contact us anytime, if you need a hand with the verification process. We are more than happy to help you, and we always enjoy meeting new people!
